SCAPE

By: Ng Shang Yu
The place I have chosen is SCAPE. What is SCAPE? Where is it?
SCAPE is located in town, Orchard Road, near the Cathay Cineplex and 313@Somerset. Yes, that crowded area of Singapore where everyone goes to on the weekends, being foreigners or locals.
So,  why have I chosen this location? It is well known for its flea markets on the weekends, but fret not shoppaholics, they do sell cheap items in the basement, better known as SCAPE Underground.
SCAPE is also hosts of many events, one being the REDSPORT all-star weekend, on 8-9 August, to commemorate youth sports and give the student athletes from various schools something to cheer about. The REDSPORT all-star weekend drew a crowd of more than 1000 student athletes and fans. These student athletes competed in friendly tournaments in three sports – basketball, floorball and football.
Other than hosting various event such as the REDSPORT all-star weekend and national day celebrations every year, one could find teens going to SCAPE to hang out with friends, be it at the underground market, the skateboarding area, or even the fast food restaurants that are located there. If there was a place that teenagers would go to to hang out and just chill, SCAPE is definitely the place to go to.
Having personally been there after my friends and i catched a movie at the Cineplex,  I could already sense a vibe about the place, I felt this burst of energy from the teenagers that were hanging out happily regardless of what they were doing.
Thus, I feel that SCAPE is certainly one of Singapore’s most popular hangout, if not the most popular hangout in Singapore. It reflects the energy of a Singaporean youth and I am grateful for it as it gives me a sense of freedom as it is filled with outgoing youths
SCAPE is definitely one of Singapore’s popular places and I feel that everyone should go visit it at least once in their teenage lives.
