Chicken rice

Chicken rice is a well recognised Singapore's famous dish. Anyone who has didn't try chicken rice on a visit to Singapore is as good as saying not having a true taste of Singapore. There are a few famous chicken rice stalls and I decided to pay a visit to Loy Kee. Loy Kee has been established since 1953. It has received a lot of awards and recognised as one of the best chicken rice stall.
The stall was full of marble tables and old style chairs and the swirling fans reminding the older customers of the nostalgia atmosphere back in the older days. The ambience in the restaurant was great with the fragrance of roasted chicken which  instantly and constantly made my stomach grumbles.

The waiter that served us was really friendly. We did not need to wait long for our food to be served. I ordered their signature chicken rice set and a small jar of quenching lime juice.
The chicken rice set comes with a bowl of rice, a plate of chicken, a plate of vegetable fried with tasty garlic and oyster sauce. The chicken is succulent, tender and will make you want more after the first bite, I fall in love on the first bite. The rice is very fragrant, it is not excessively oily or sticky but has a balance of both which complements the ambrosial of the chicken perfectly! While enjoying the savoury chicken, a sip of lime juice would freshen up taste buds heavenly.

These three types of sauces are home brewed on daily basis to ensure it high quality and great taste. They are dark soy sauce, garlic sauce and chilli sauce. I especially love the chilli sauce as it is not deadly spicy but has a tint of sweetness in its spiciness.

Only after I tried the chicken rice for myself, I totally agree with its title of being the best chicken rice in Singapore. It is the best and tastiest chicken rice I have ever eaten. It is indeed Singapore's best!

It reflects Singapore spirit by showing that people from other parts of the world come to Singapore with their delicacy and modify it to suit the taste of the Singaporeans, which enrich the dish and enhance its original taste. It is a combination of traditional dish with an advancement and improvement in its quality, bringing the dish towards perfection just like Singapore as a country. The spirit of not forgetting the past but moving forward with great advancement and development for a better Singapore.

I am grateful for this chicken rice stall for putting in effort in decorating the stall in nostalgia atmosphere for the older people to indulge in reminiscence and for the young people like us to appreciate the art of the past. I am thankful for being able to try the scrumptious dish of chicken rice that has a rich history of more than 60 years.
