The
Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) is a
74-hectare garden in Singapore.
It is the only botanic garden in the world that opens from 5 a.m. to 12
midnight every single day of the year, and does not charge an admission fee,
except for the National Orchid Garden that charges a nominal fee. Despite the
free admission, the grounds for the garden are in immaculate condition, with
frequent upgrading works.

I feel that Singapore Botanic Gardens as there are many attractions, like National Orchid Gardens, Rainforest, Evolution Garden,
Heritage Museum, Botany Centre and Tanglin Gate, Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden,
just to name a few.
Look out for the Tembusu—one of the island’s most distinctive trees.
This native is reportedly more than 150 years old and is one of the 44 Heritage
Trees in the Gardens. And during the flowering seasons in May - June and
October - November, its creamy white flowers open at sunset; giving off a
strong fragrance. An illustration of this fine Tembusu can be found on the back
of the ‘Portrait’ series S$5 note.

The Singapore Botanic
Gardens management team is very responsive to changing visitor patterns.
Recently, they have launched apps to enable a better experience for visitors. The
garden is an intimate space to many Singaporeans, bringing us away from enclosed
buildings and malls.
Singapore Botanic
Gardens also has many other functions. For example, it produces new breeds of
orchids and names them after important people who have officially visited the
garden. An example is an orchid named after Prince William and Kate in 2012.
The Gardens is also making an effort to contribute towards placing our red dot
on the international map, through its recent UNESCO World Heritage Site
nomination.
With the recent
completion of the Botanic Gardens MRT Station on the Circle Line, getting there
has become much more convenient, along with the multiple bus services that are
available.
Come by early in the mornings on weekends to see families picnicking or
visit during the evenings for a leisurely stroll. Why wait any longer? Come and
visit Singapore Botanic Gardens now!
