Singaporeans have many ways to relieve their stress from the
hustle and bustle of our city. One of the ways to escape the hecticness of our
city is to visit the Singapore Botanical Gardens.
Singapore Botanical Gardens is huge. One end of the park is
at Orchard road and the other is at bukit timah. There is a MRT station at the
bukit timah entrance and transportation to this place is very convenient. This
park has 3 large ponds. A swan lake, Symphony Lake, and Eco Lake. At the
symphony lake, there is a large stage and occasionally, there would be a band
performing there, free for the public to view and appreciate while they chill
at the park. There is also a children’s garden where the kids can play with
water and interact with Mother Nature. There are also different types of
gardens such as the orchid garden, Marsh garden, and many other gardens.
I spent my National Day Weekend at the park with my family
and cousins. We played soccer, Frisbee and chilled by the Eco Lake. We saw
ducks and chased one of them around. Many other Singaporeans also had the same
idea of going to the park that weekend and it was quite crowded. Once in a
while, we could hear a sudden burst of laughter coming from the people there
playing. People also jogged in the park and played some games like sack races.
I feel this place is Singapore’s best because it depicts
Singapore as a clean and green city. This park also shows people that we are a
garden city. During my trip there, I saw many people of different races playing
together and making friends. It shows the Singapore spirit, many races living
and playing together. I am grateful for this place because many of my childhood
memories were forged here. One of my fond memories was getting lost in the flora
and fauna of the park with my grandfather (literally, I got lost).
